About us...

We are two young professionals living in Lima.

During our vacation time between our MSc and the MPhil abroad, we went to Lima and we looked for social projects to participate in.

As we were looking online, we found out that nearly all projects we could have participated in seemed to be rather expensive and not very appealing to us.

Through connections and many links, we found that the district of Lurin alto, ca. 40 km South of the center of Lima was in need of volunteers.

Lurin is one of the 43 districts that make up the Lima province. It was created on January 2, 1857, and since then it has been an agricultural district as it is located in the center of the LurĂn River valley. It has a few beaches which attract tourists during the summer months (December-March) principally from the city of Lima which it is gradually being incorporated into.

Lurin alto on the other hand is the newest part of it. It has been created within the last decade.
For the most part it has been created by the people simply occupying the land. After some time, the various parts have been integrated into the Lima infrastructure.

The school we worked in hosts up to 30 children.

As you can see, everything was clean and well taken care of, yet there was no electricity available in the building.

Even though the region and its people are very poor, they are some of the most welcoming and loving people we have ever met.

As social problems continue to exist in this district, the children are not all that easy to handle but once accepted, we were integrated and appreciated.

Apart from the school, there are many projects that can use volunteers.
Most projects in the region are financed by the catholic church and social organizations.
